How to get to Salamanca


The international airport of Madrid Adolfo Suárez-Barajas is situated at about 220 kilometres from Salamanca. If you flight arrives to Madrid Airport, the quickest way to come to Salamanca (and the one we recommend you) is the following:

The company Avanzabus offers a direct bus service from the airport (Terminals 1 and 4) to Salamanca, this trip take approximately two hours and a half.  If you wish to use this service, we recommend you to buy your ticket before you arrival to Madrid.

If you are already in Madrid or you do not want to travel by bus, you can choose for the following option:

At the train station of Chamartín, you can buy your train ticket to Salamanca. This company (Renfe) offers several services daily, you can consult the timetables of Renfe on the following link

How do you get to the Chamartín Train Station?

If you are at Madrid Airport and you wish to each the Chamartín Train Station, you have the following options:

  • By taxi: this service costs around 40 euros (depending on the traffic, supplements, etc.) and works 24 hours a day.
  • Suburban Train (Tren de Cercanías): a modern train suburban line which connects Terminal T4 with several key points in Madrid: Chamartín, Nuevos Ministerios, Atocha y Príncipe Pío. For more information, consult the following website
  • By metro: from the airport you can take Line 8 which connects all airport terminals with the Station of Nuevos Ministerios in the centre of Madrid. For more information, consult


Our school offers the possibility to make reservations for a private pick-up service from the airport to Salamanca. If you choose to take this service, a representative of the school will be waiting for you at the exit of the terminal, holding a sign with your name.

The information on the driver (name and contact number) will be sent to you before leaving for Spain.  The driver will take you from the airport to your lodging in Salamanca.
