The Colegio de España, is one of the most experienced centers in the teaching of Spanish in Spain as it was founded in 1973 in Salamanca. It is an academic institution whose main purpose is, the teaching and diffusion of Spanish  and Hispanic Language and Culture, to students and foreign teachers of Spanish. The Colegio de España is an Accredited Center of the Instituto Cervantes and it is part of its Partners Institution, composed by centers whose quality has expressly recognized the Institute. It also has CEELE Quality Certificate from the University of Alcalá de Henares.

Many universities in the United States and Europe have had or have established academic programs in the Colegio de España. Evenly, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we have organized several summer refresher courses for teachers of Spanish in Brazil and the Anglophone Caribbean. Also, teachers of Spanish in Ivory Coast  have attended the courses of Hispanic Studies during many years, scholarships by the Spanish government. This year, forty teachers of Spanish in secondary schools in Norway, have attended the Colegio de España of Salamanca in Spain a few refresher courses, specially designed for them.

The Colegio has its own editorial Ambos Mundos, dedicated among other things, to the publication of books about learning and teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language. Twice a year the College publishes the literary and cultural magazine (Cuadernos del Lazarillo), which is distributed to libraries and universities and in collaboration with specialists. It also sponsors an Old Students Association and a Department of Cultural Activities.

We are members of FEDELE (Spanish Federation of Schools of Spanish) of AITIPE (International Association of Translators, Interpreters and Teachers of Spanish) and AECYL (Castilian-Leonese Association of Schools of Spanish).
