Southern-Connecticut-State-SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE UNIVERSITY

….I would like to say that since the summer of 1994 our Institution,  Southern Connecticut State University, has regularly taken part in the symmer courses organized by the Colegio de España…The excellent quality of its Language and Literature Courses along with the pleasant and cosy atmosphere it providees, its helpful staff and the fact that it has its own Publishing Department have turned the Colegio de España into one of the most prestigious international centres dedicated to the teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language.

SAINT BONAVENTURE UNIVERSITY (NewSaint-Bonaventure-Universit York)

Since many years our university has established a program with the Colegio de España. From an academic point of view, as always, the Colegio de España (…) stands out for its excellent academic structure in all aspects, as far as Spanish Language and Culture Teaching is concerned (…) The courses stand out for the excellence and dedication of its teaching staff.  Classes are structured with a great variety of activities (…) All these essential ingredients are entwined with contemporary cultural segments and with interesting conversation topics in the different levels (…) The teachers are creative, always informed about the latest news on Language Teaching, full of energy, they attend conferences and professinal seminars, and, above all, they offer a good atmosphere in class with their great patience and sense of humour to motivate the students (…) The program at the Colegio de España has something special: students enjoy very much the extra-curricular activities and their variety (not only the mostt playful ones such as the sports activities, dinners, etc, but also the cultural trips, movie cycles, tours of the city, etc.
(…) For our students the program is a unique educational experience  (…) Many of my students have returned to the Colegio de España to continue their studies during the next summer or the aceademic yeart (…) The value of the school building as well as its location is extraordinary
(…) we recall the Spain of the Golden Age and my students are enchanted by the structure and history of this center. My very best regards and gratitude for their excellent professional labour and great passion for teaching towards Teresa, Covadonga and the rest of the teaching staff, who are there for our students inside and outside the classrooms. Also my gratitude towards the kindness of Sophie and the Administration.

Since three years we have established a close relationship with the Colegio de España, sending our students for a course during the month of March.
During our stay our students and I have found dynamic teachers, with a great preparation and dedication. The professional attitude of the Direction of the Colegio attending our demands was exemplary; they have always tried to please our demands so that our stay in Salamanca would be the most pleasant and productive as possible. The students' evaluations, concerning the courses and visits to the city of Salamanca adn surroundings the school offers, show a great rating. The security the city of Salamanca is a great reference point when having to choose a destination for High School Students.

Baruch-CollageBARUCH COLLEGE

“It has been almost twenty years now since we first started to send students to the Colegio and every year more and more students. The success of this program is clear seeing that students return to Baruch very well prepared and always enthusiastic (…) Why do we have such a great interest and participation?   I am sure that some of the reasons are the excellent teaching given, the dynamic and vitality of its teachers, the general welcome from them. When a student interested in travelling comes to see me, I don't recommend him  nor Madrid nor Barcelona, because the experiences of our students confimr the high quality of the Salamanca program, and because many students have returned once, twice to study at the Colegio.(…) I wish to continue our close relationship and I hope that future students will receive the same warm attention and an excellent month of teaching, which for many of them is a “life changing event”…

“Each and every year that I have been to the Colegio de España with my students we have come across excellent teachers and a great cultural and academic atmosphere together with an extraordinary Administration and Managagement Team. The professionalism and friendliness of all the staff, which have made my work much easier, have encouraged me to continue as the Director of this programme for the last 14 years and to promote and organize it the WIU, where I have been teaching Spanish since 1993.

 Opinions of students and teachers

I was already studying in Salamanca when I found out about the Colegio de España. My friend and I were looking for a school to learn Spanish . As I had already reached a high level of Spanish, I choose to take the "Curso Anual de Estudios Hispánicos". I liked it because, apart from the Language Class, I could study subjects such as History of Spain, Spanish Art, etc. I loved it, classes were very interesting and the teachers very professionnally and nice. I have learned a lot and met a lot of people.  I liked it so much that I went back to the Colegio de España to take the DELE Preparatory Course.  I will always remember my experience at the Colegio de España and in Salamanca.

Hola me llamo Jeroen, soy de Holanda y tengo 29 años… this was the first phrase I learnt in Spanish at the Colegio de España. I will forgot my first day and my first week at the Colegio …I went to Spain last Symmer and I didn't have many plans: learn the language and travel to discover Spain.  I only knew 5 words “hola: dos cervezas por favor”. Important words, but not enough.  During three months I studied Spanish, travelled to different cities and most important I met a lot of different and nice people.  The Colegio de España is a small school, its teachers have a great experience and all the staff here helps you if you need so. They know that to learn is not only to study in class. (…) The Colegio offers cultural trips, dance class, sports, etc... many students refer to the them as my "family in Spain" ” and I feel the same. Salamanca is a small city with many bars, restaurants, students, cultural parties and its Main Square is magical. Once again I have returned to Salamanca to live here for some time and I don't know until when. In my class there are students from all over the world: Taiwán, United Stated, Noway, South Corea, Poland, India, Brazil, China and me, from Holland: it is a very enjoying and interesting to get to know the different habits and learn Spanish together.  In English we say : “if you haven’t tried you haven’t lived”. My time in Spain has been the best experience for me up to now.  Therefore, I you wish to learn Spanish, I would highly recommend the Colegio.

I knew about the Colegio de España across a French company named “Goelangues”. I came to study the language and I expected that my stay at the Colegio would allow me to talk well in very few months. After having passed the 5 levels I had no problem to communicate with the peoplle.  Also all staff at the Colegio (teachers and administration), which I had a hgreat confidence in, allowed me to feel at ease in a city I didn't know and where I arrived with only 18 years of age. I went on several trips with the Colegio (Segovia, Ciudad Rodrigo…) where I learned a lot about the Spanish culture.  I also enjoyed very much the salsa classes, the dinner at the bodega, playing football and participating in other activities from the Colegio. Finally I  am proud to say that the year I spent at the Colegio de España was the best of my life and I fell in love with the city. A proof of this: right now I am still living and studying in Salamanca.

Salamanca is one of the nicest cities in Spain. (…) After class it is easy to get to its Main Square to have a coffee. Classes at the Colegio are fascinating. The teachers are very professional and with a great experience.  …I took the Culture Class with Teresa, which was very interesting. I loved the teacher, she explained everything with great details and enthousiasm, I felt very comfortable…We not only learned during class, but we also learned a lot outside class. (…) The other class was Historia de la Lengua Española (teacher Carmen from the University of Valladolid) which was marvellous(…) as there were not many students, the class was quite personal.  I felt as if the two teachers had been friends of mine since many years. I highly recommend the Colegio de España to all who wish to have a fantastic experience learning about the language, culture and friendship.
