….I would like to say that since the summer of 1994 our Institution, Southern Connecticut State University, has regularly taken part in the symmer courses organized by the Colegio de España…The excellent quality of its Language and Literature Courses along with the pleasant and cosy atmosphere it providees, its helpful staff and the fact that it has its own Publishing Department have turned the Colegio de España into one of the most prestigious international centres dedicated to the teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language. “Each and every year that I have been to the Colegio de España with my students we have come across excellent teachers and a great cultural and academic atmosphere together with an extraordinary Administration and Managagement Team. The professionalism and friendliness of all the staff, which have made my work much easier, have encouraged me to continue as the Director of this programme for the last 14 years and to promote and organize it the WIU, where I have been teaching Spanish since 1993. Opinions of students and teachersI was already studying in Salamanca when I found out about the Colegio de España. My friend and I were looking for a school to learn Spanish . As I had already reached a high level of Spanish, I choose to take the "Curso Anual de Estudios Hispánicos". I liked it because, apart from the Language Class, I could study subjects such as History of Spain, Spanish Art, etc. I loved it, classes were very interesting and the teachers very professionnally and nice. I have learned a lot and met a lot of people. I liked it so much that I went back to the Colegio de España to take the DELE Preparatory Course. I will always remember my experience at the Colegio de España and in Salamanca. Cecilia Davegårdh Norway
Hola me llamo Jeroen, soy de Holanda y tengo 29 años… this was the first phrase I learnt in Spanish at the Colegio de España. I will forgot my first day and my first week at the Colegio …I went to Spain last Symmer and I didn't have many plans: learn the language and travel to discover Spain. I only knew 5 words “hola: dos cervezas por favor”. Important words, but not enough. During three months I studied Spanish, travelled to different cities and most important I met a lot of different and nice people. The Colegio de España is a small school, its teachers have a great experience and all the staff here helps you if you need so. They know that to learn is not only to study in class. (…) The Colegio offers cultural trips, dance class, sports, etc... many students refer to the them as my "family in Spain" ” and I feel the same. Salamanca is a small city with many bars, restaurants, students, cultural parties and its Main Square is magical. Once again I have returned to Salamanca to live here for some time and I don't know until when. In my class there are students from all over the world: Taiwán, United Stated, Noway, South Corea, Poland, India, Brazil, China and me, from Holland: it is a very enjoying and interesting to get to know the different habits and learn Spanish together. In English we say : “if you haven’t tried you haven’t lived”. My time in Spain has been the best experience for me up to now. Therefore, I you wish to learn Spanish, I would highly recommend the Colegio. Jeroen Broeken Holland
I knew about the Colegio de España across a French company named “Goelangues”. I came to study the language and I expected that my stay at the Colegio would allow me to talk well in very few months. After having passed the 5 levels I had no problem to communicate with the peoplle. Also all staff at the Colegio (teachers and administration), which I had a hgreat confidence in, allowed me to feel at ease in a city I didn't know and where I arrived with only 18 years of age. I went on several trips with the Colegio (Segovia, Ciudad Rodrigo…) where I learned a lot about the Spanish culture. I also enjoyed very much the salsa classes, the dinner at the bodega, playing football and participating in other activities from the Colegio. Finally I am proud to say that the year I spent at the Colegio de España was the best of my life and I fell in love with the city. A proof of this: right now I am still living and studying in Salamanca. Romane Roson Guadalupe
Salamanca is one of the nicest cities in Spain. (…) After class it is easy to get to its Main Square to have a coffee. Classes at the Colegio are fascinating. The teachers are very professional and with a great experience. …I took the Culture Class with Teresa, which was very interesting. I loved the teacher, she explained everything with great details and enthousiasm, I felt very comfortable…We not only learned during class, but we also learned a lot outside class. (…) The other class was Historia de la Lengua Española (teacher Carmen from the University of Valladolid) which was marvellous(…) as there were not many students, the class was quite personal. I felt as if the two teachers had been friends of mine since many years. I highly recommend the Colegio de España to all who wish to have a fantastic experience learning about the language, culture and friendship.
